One of our internet consultants is featured on BBC Click Online discussing Spyware and Adware
August 08, 2001

Discussing the touchy issue of Spyware and how it affects the privacy of internet users and could potentially upset the balance of the present ad oriented internet economy.

The issue is available from the BBC website (RealMedia Video Stream). If you do not have RealMedia Player (now called RealOne!) installed please click here.

For those of you who don't yet know; Spyware is software that monitors your web browsing habits. You can get more information at Spyware.co.uk

Personally we believe this is a very important issue not only because of the way it affects personal privacy but also because of the following reciprocal affects:

Spyware products undermine the revenue streams individual websites depend on for survival and put the present fragile internet economy at risk. Spyware products create unfair advantages for the companies that own the spyware databases. How would you like your competitor having better statistics about your website users habits than you? There are also governmental issues that need to be looked at in detail and have so far not been dealt with.
