“As soon as Guava implemented their optimisation programme, we saw monthly visits and page impressions increase significantly, especially in the sections of the site we sought to address."

The Situation
Squaremeal.co.uk is the website for Square Meal Magazine and the Square Meal Guide. Featuring extensive high-quality reviews and ratings, the site is well known in the City of London as the first port of call for people wanting to eat out or host an event. Squaremeal.co.uk needed:
- To raise its regional profile, increasing the number of visitors from the rest of the UK.
- To boost growth other in areas of the business that users might not necessarily associate with Square Meal, such as Christmas parties.
Our Solution
Guava’s skilled search engine optimisation specialists began by conducting a full audit to highlight the key indexation and rankings issues with the website.
Based on this, we then devised an optimisation roadmap that balanced implementation cost with Square Meal’s overall objectives. Working hand in hand with Square Meal’s developers, we used this detailed report to advise on a number of upgrades to the website architecture. These included improving the organisation of information within the pages, as well as optimising their Content Management System (CMS).
We also used Guava’s unique proprietary tools to understand users’ search-term habits (for example, the most popular keyword combinations). This helped us to ensure that the website’s content reflected ‘real world’ search engine behaviour.
The Results
The results have been dramatic, speaking loudly for themselves: Squaremeal.co.uk’s Google traffic increased by approximately 30% per month.
The website also gained number 1 rankings for ‘Christmas parties’ in time for the festive period, which brought them significant increases in visitors.
"Before we decided to use Guava to optimise Squaremeal.co.uk, the website was receiving a significant amount of visitors, but we felt there was room for growth – especially in areas which might not necessarily be associated with Square Meal, such as regional restaurants and Christmas parties. As soon as Guava implemented their optimisation programme, we saw monthly visits and page impressions increase significantly, especially in the sections of the site we sought to address."
